J.V. Blue Rage Tier II Champions!!!

The J.V. Blue Rage finished the season with a sweep of the playoffs by beating East Alton Wood River 5-2.

C. Flynn came out swinging in the first period and was rewarded with 4 goals for his effort with assists coming from Hoge, York, Gouch, Bittle, and Harries.

For the remaining two periods the Blue Rage concentrated on moving the puck and executing great passes to control the tempo and tire out the EAWR squad. B. Hoge made sure the crowd was still awake by scoring a breakaway goal with a few minutes remaining in the 2nd. The game ended with a final score of 5-2 with the Blue Rage on top.

Thanks to all the coaches, players, and parents who worked so hard during this difficult transition year for the club. This playoff result is proof that there are many more great things to come for the Blue Rage. See you next season. GO BLUE RAGE!!!

Blue Rage Playoff Winning Streak Continues

The J.V. Blue Rage team was victorious over Waterloo on Saturday night with a final score of 3-2. In doing so, they clinched the trophy and advanced out of the first tier of the playoffs. This marks the fourth straight win for the young J.V. squad and they are skating better than they have all season.

Blue Rage Defeat Edwardsville South

The J.V. boys continued their winning streak by shutting out Edwardsville in a 4-0 playoff victory on Saturday night. The Freeburg goals were:

• B. Hoge at 4:06 (asst. J. York, T. Rainbolt), 1st period
• J. York at 2:56, 2nd Period
• C. Flynn at 3:42 (asst. J. York, N. Harries), 3rd period
• B. Hoge at 2:49, 3rd period

J.V. Blue Rage Victorious Over BTHS West

The Freeburg Blue Rage sent a clear message last night that they intend to bring home the trophy as they defeated Belleville West in playoff hockey.

West got on the board early and held a 1-0 lead going into the second period. C. Flynn scored the first Blue Rage goal at 8:55 (asst. B. Biermann) and the second period ended in a tie. B. Hoge fired the winning shot at 9:36 in the third (asst. C. Pees) and Freeburg was able to protect that lead for a final score of 2-1.

Playoff action resumes this Saturday at 8:30 as Freeburg faces of against Edwardsville South in Fairview. Come out and cheer the boys on. GO BLUE RAGE!!!

J.V. Ties Edwardsville South in Last Game of Regular Season

C. Flynn got the J.V. Blue Rage off to a great start against Edwardsville South with goals at 6:50 and 5:42 in the first period. Edwardsville scored a goal of their own to end the first period down by one. The second period was all Edwardsville as they scored two more unanswered goals to take the lead 3-2. In the third period J. York scored at 10:11 (asst. A. Gouch) to tie the game. Edwardsville scored again and again it was J. York who answered with another Blue Rage goal at 6:03. Time ran out with the score tied at 4 all.

Play off hockey begins Monday night when the Blue Rage face off against Belleville West at 6:50 in Fairview. GO BLUE RAGE!!!!

J.V. Blue Rage Victorious Over Triad

Saturday nights game got off to a slow start with no goals scored in the first period. Triad scored late in the second period and it looked like they would take that lead into the third until T. Rainbolt scored for the Blue Rage with only 31 seconds remaining in the period. The score was tied and throughout the third period both teams continued fighting hard for the winning goal. With 7:23 remaining it was C. Pees who found that goal and put Freeburg up by one. The Blue Rage were able to protect that lead for the remainder of the game and emerged victorious with a final score of 2-1.

Varsity Season Ends in Shootout

The Blue Rage faced the Waterloo Bulldogs in the first round of the playoffs last night. Waterloo jumped out to an early lead and was winning 1-0 at the end of the first period. They scored twice again in the second and held their lead until with 1:37 remaining C. Flynn scored (asst. B. Bittle) to end the period with Freeburg down by two. At 6:34 D. Reiking scored (asst. B. Bittle) to put the Blue Rage within a goal. That goal came with only 2:39 left in regulation and was scored by J. York.

With the score tied at 3 all, the game was decided by a shootout. Waterloo scored on their first attempt and the Blue Rage were unable to answer. Waterloo then scored on their second attempt as did A. Nickens for the Blue Rage. B. Sawyer shut down the third Waterloo shot but Freeburg was unsuccessful in their final attempt thus giving Waterloo the win.

J.V. Ties Belleville East Lancers

Monday nights game ended with a final score of 4-4. The Lancers got on the board first and held a 1-0 lead going into the second period. J. York tied the score at 10:51 (asst. C. Flynn) but the Lancers immediately answered to regain the lead. With 2:05 left in the second J. York scored again (asst. C. Flynn) to tie the score at 2-2. In the third period it was N. Nickens who scored the go ahead goal at 8:55 but again B.T.H.S. East came right back to even the score again. J. York scored again with 4:11 remaining (HAT TRICK!!!!) and , once again, the Lancers answered immediately. The game ended in a 4-4 tie.

J.V. Loses Close Game to Timberland

On Monday night the J.V. squad faced off against Timberland in what would be a very close game. B. Hoge put the Blue Rage in the lead with a breakaway goal at 7:59 in the first period. Timberland scored late in the second period to tie the score at one all. Late in the third period Timberland scored again. When the Blue Rage pulled their goalie in the final seconds of the game, Timberland was able to take advantage of the open net and score two more goals for a final score of 4-1.

Varsity Ends Regular Season with Win

The Blue Rage varsity team was victorious over Timberland tonight with a final score of 6-2. The Blue Rage took advantage of the short Timberland bench by keeping the pace high and the pressure constant. J. York was the first to score at 8:55 in the first (asst. D. Reiking). D. Reiking then scored a goal of his own (asst. B. Bittle) at 1:10 and the first period ended with Freeburg ahead 2-0. Timberland scored 2 goals in the second period. It was D. Zipfel that put Freeburg back on top with 2:51 left in the second (asst. C. Pees). The third period was all Blue Rage with A. Nickens getting a hat trick with goals at 7:44 (asst. J. York), 3:20, and 0:59 (asst. C. Pees).

The boys stayed out of the box and worked as a team to earn the 6-2 win. Stay tuned for information regarding Varsity Blue Rage playoff hockey!

J.V. Blue Rage Continue Their Winning Streak

The J.V. squad kept their winning streak alive last night against the Waterloo Bulldogs with a final score of 4-1. It was C. Pees who got things started at 10:33 in the first period with a breakaway goal. Less than a minute later A. Gauch added another to the scoreboard (asst. C. Flynn). Waterloo scored a goal in the second period but from there on out it was all Freeburg with B. Hoge adding another at 6:28. With only 14 seconds left to play, C. Flynn scored the fourth Freeburg goal of the night. Great job J.V.!!!!!

J.V Suffers Tough Loss to Columbia

The J.V. squad played a great game Monday night but ultimately lost to Columbia with a final score of 3-1. J. York scored the lone Freeburg goal from an incredible pass by B. Hoge.

The boys are skating well and bringing a lot of energy to the ice. Come out and cheer them on as they face Waterloo at 8:30 on Saturday night in Fairview. Go Blue Rage!!!

Varsity Game Against Waterloo Ends in a Tie

It was 10 minutes into the first period when C. Flynn scored the nights first goal (asst. B. Bittle). The Bulldogs were quick to answer and the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. For the remaining two periods, fans were treated to numerous breakaways, incredible saves, and fast-paced play. Despite the best efforts of both teams, the score was still tied 1-1 when the game ended.

Come out tomorrow and cheer for the J.V. team as they play Cloumbia at 8:00 p.m. in Fairview.

J.V. Beats Belleville West 2-1

The J.V. squad fought hard to well deserved win against Belleville West tonight. It was C. Pees who got things started by scoring with 1:00 left in the first period. The second period was scoreless and with 8:00 left in the third, Belleville West tied the score. J. York scored the go ahead goal for Freeburg with 2:39 left in the third period and B.T.H.S. West was unable to answer.

The Blue Rage are on a roll and the varsity squad will definitely do their best to extend their winning streak when they face off against Waterloo tomorrow night. Game time is 6:15 in Fairview. GO BLUE RAGE!!!

The Blue Rage looked great last night as they skated to a 10-1 victory over Jerseyville. The scoring summary was as follows:

Senior Night

Thanks to all the players, sponsors, and parents that participated in tonight's Blue Rage senior night. The game ended with Marquette shutting out the Blue Rage with a final score of 4-0. Come out and root on the Varsity team as they face off against Jerseyville at 8:45 on Thursday night in East Alton. Go Blue Rage!!!

Blue Rage Varsity vs. Triad

B. Sawyer was back in the net for tonight's contest against Triad. Sawyer held Triad to only two goals despite their 30 shots on. Unfortunately, the Blue Rage offense did not have the same luck and were unable to score despite numerous opportunities. The boys played strong hockey tonight and are to be commended for once again entering into a game where they were grossly outnumbered and skating with them for a full three periods of hockey.

J.V. Blue Rage vs. O'Fallon

Tonight's game started off great with a goal from B. Hoge to put Freeburg in the lead. O'fallon answered quickly and scored eight unanswered goals before the Blue Rage was able to score again. This time it was C. Pees with 1:35 left in the second period. The third period started with J York scoring at 9:58 (assist C. Pees, B. Biermann). O'fallon then scored a final goal to make the score 9-3. The next Freeburg game is tomorrow night when the Varsity squad plays Triad at 6:15 in Fairview. Go Blue Rage!!!

Varsity vs. Columbia

Columbia bested a short Blue Rage bench with a final score of 10-1 tonight. The lone Freeburg goal was scored by B. Bittle (assist B. Biermann) with 1:50 left in the second period. Tomorrow night the J.V. team faces off against O'fallon at 6:10 in Fairview. Go Blue Rage!
