J.V. Blue Rage vs. Edwardsville South

The J.V. Freeburg Blue Rage team attacked Edwardsville South Monday night. With both teams fighting hard, it was anybody's game until late in the 3rd when Edwardsville scored an empty net goal to clench the victory with final score of 5-3. Highlights of the game included seeing J. Loesche defend the goal while B. Sawyer skated out. The Freeburg goals came from T. Rainbolt, B. Sawyer, and B. Hoge.



The next game is Sunday December 27th. Come watch the Varsity Blue Rage in action against Collinsville . Game time is 4:50 in Fairview. GO BLUE RAGE!!!

J.V. Blue Rage vs. Triad

The J.V. Blue Rage certainly had their hands full as they played Triad on Saturday Night. At the end of the game, Triad emerged victorious with a final score of 0-5. Check out the video below that shows some of the action from the game.

Blue Rage Varsity Clash with Highland

Tuesday night the Blue Rage found themselves again without starting goalie B. Sawyer. This time it was freshman B. Biermann who helped out between the posts. Biermann did a great job by allowing only one goal in the first period and 2 in the second.

At the end of the second period the score was 3-0 with Freeburg still looking for their first goal. That goal came at 11:14 when D. Reiking tipped one in (assist J. York). The Blue rage then pulled within one when J. York scored an unassisted goal at 4:18. Despite Freeburg pulling the goalie and pushing hard in the last minutes of the third, Highland emerged on top with a final score of 3-2.

The final score certainly did not reflect the fantastic job the Blue Rage did in breaking out and challenging the Highland Goalkeeper. By the end of the game, Freeburg had 37 shots on goal compared to 8 by Highland.

The next game is Saturday the 19th. Come out and Cheer on the J.V. squad as they play Triad in Fairview at 7:20. Go Blue Rage!!!

Freeburg Varsity Victorious Over Shells!

Sunday night saw the Varsity team squaring off against Roxana at the Alton Ice Rink. The Blue Rage were first on the scoreboard with a goal from T. Rainbolt (assist C. Flynn) at 6:00 in the first period. A. Nickens then scored at 2:19 to put the Blue Rage ahead by 2 at the end of the first period.

The Blue Rage drive continued through the second period with goals at 8:00 by C. Pees (assist A. Nickens) and again at 5:56 with A. Nickens scoring his second of the night.

The Shells rallied in the third period and were able to score two goals before time ran out. The final score of 4-2 was a direct result of fantastic teamwork and great passing by the Blue Rage. The boys did a great job of controlling the puck and the game.

Come out tomorrow night to see if the Blue Rage Varsity team can extend their winning streak as they play Highland at 8:15 in Fairview. GO BLUE RAGE!!!

J.V. Blue Rage vs. Lancers

Blue Rage fans were shocked when 8th grader J. Loeshe skated onto the ice in full goaltender pads for the Saturday J.V. game against the Lancers. With regular goalie B. Sawyer under the weather it was Loeshe who stepped up to guard the net.

The Lancers scored late in the first period but J. York was able to answer at 5:09 (assist C. Flynn) to end the first period in a 1-1 tie.

The second period saw the Lancers attack hard and immediately score another 3 goals before C. Flynn was able to score at 4:04 (assist J. York). The Lancers snuck in yet another goal to end the second with a score of 5-2.

The Lancer scoring drive continued through the third period with another 4 goals being scored. The lone Freeburg goal came with only 25 seconds left to play when B. Hoge was able to break away for an unassisted goal.

Despite the final score of 9-3, Freeburg is to be congratulated on the way they entered into a difficult situation and made the best of it. J. Loeshe made quite a few fantastic saves and is to be commended on stepping up when the team needed it. Great job Jeff!

J.V. Blue Rage Battles Timberland

The Freeburg J.V. skated to a 4-0 loss at the hands of Timberland on Monday night. While the game did contain its moments of excitement, the J.V. squad was unable to turn the momentum of the game in their favor long enough to score.

With a few days of rest before they face Belleville East on Saturday night, the squad should be well rested and ready to give B.T.H.S. East a good game. Come out and cheer the boys on! Game time is 7:20 at Fairview.

Blue Rage Varsity Takes on Bethalto

While the snowflakes flew outside, the pucks were flying inside at the East Alton rink as the Varsity Blue Rage faced off against Bethalto last night. Freeburg struggled early against the depth of the Bethalto bench as the Eagles scored 4 goals in the first period.

In the second period Freeburg came to life with a goal by B. Bittle at 10:21 and another by C. Flynn (assisted by A. Nickens) at 8:37. The Eagles answered with a goal that was quickly followed by another Freeburg Goal at 4:41, this time by A. Nickens (assist Hoge). Bethalto scored another goal to end the second period with a score of 6-3.

The Eagles started the third period by scoring 2 more goals but the end of the third period belonged to Freeburg. A. Nickens put on quite the show when he scored at 3:11 (assist T. Rainbolt, B. Sawyer), and again at 2:40 (assist C. Flynn), and yet again at 1:43 to bring the Blue Rage within 2 for a final score of 8-6.

The next game is Monday, December 7th. Come cheer on the Blue Rage J.V. team as they face Timberland at Fairview at 8:00 p.m.

Blue Rage Alumni Game

The Blue Rage Alumni game has been scheduled for Sunday December 20, 2009 from 12:15 pm - 2:15 pm at the Fairview Ice Rink. The cost for the alumni players will be $20.00 per player. Players will also need to sign a waiver for the rink. If you know any alumni players please let them know about the game. We are counting on word of mouth to ensure that the Alumni team has enough players!!! 50/50 tickets will be availible as well as a Chuck-a-Puck contest. The admission fee for fans will be $2.00 each.

Freeburg Varsity Emerges Victorious Over East Alton

The Varsity Team played a great game against East Alton Wood River tonight and were victorious with a final score of 6-1 . A. Nickens got things started late in the first period and put up the first goal of the night with 1:07 left (assist by D. Reiking).

East Alton scored 11 minutes into the second period but J. York refused to let the second period end in a tie and scored a goal with 31 seconds left in the period with D. Reiking once again providing the assist.

The third period was all Blue Rage with A. Nickens putting in his second of the night less than a minute into the period (assist B. Hoge). Next to score was J. York on a shorthanded breakaway. With 3:21 left to play B. Bittle added to the Freeburg lead (assist by C. Pees and A. Nickens). The final goal of the night was scored by the Blue Rage with 2:16 left on the clock.

The team played a great game with fantastic passes and lots of energy adding up to 35 shots on goal.

Freeburg Varsity Fights Tough Battle Against Timberland

The Freeburg Varsity team tried their best to overcome the long drive (and possibly the Thanksgiving leftovers) but were bested by Timberland with a final score of 6-2. The Blue Rage struggled to control the game for the first two periods but came alive in the third with goals by A. Nickens as well as B. Bittle. B. Sawyer did his usual excellent job in goal amidst a flurry of shots (27) by Timberland.

The next varsity game is this Tuesday at 8:15 in Fairview. Come on out and support your Blue Rage!!!

J.V. Blue Rage and Bulldogs Finish In a Tie

The Freeburg Blue Rage tied the Waterloo Bulldogs 3-3 in tonight's game. The Blue Rage squad continues to show progress on the ice as they continue to look for their first win of the season.

Brennen Hoge scored not one but TWO breakaway goals tonight while 8th grader Adam Gauch found the back of the net as well for his first goal with the Team. It is exciting to see these new players contributing so much this early in the season.

Tomorrow night the Blue Rage Varsity team takes on Timberland at 8:20 p.m. in Wentzville, Missouri. GO BLUE RAGE!!!!

Blue Rage J.V. Skates to a 1-1 Tie Against B.T.H.S West

Despite numerous shots on goal Freeburg J.V. found themselves losing by a single goal with 1:37 left to play. A gutsy call to pull the goalie paid off when Nick Nickens scored for the Blue Rage with 50 seconds left on the clock.

Freeburg then called a final time out with 15 seconds left and gave it their all trying to score the winning goal. Unfortunately, time ran out and the boys had to settle for a final score of 1-1.

Come cheer the team on when they face the Waterloo Bulldogs this Saturday at 6:10. Go Blue Rage!!!

Freeburg J.V. Team makes Columbia Earn the Win

Last night the young Freeburg J.V. team did an excellent job of passing the puck and working together to keep the pressure on Columbia. In spite of the incredible goal keeping by Freeburg, Columbia managed to sneak in a few and won the game with a final score of 3-1. J. York found the back of the net to score the goal for the Blue Rage. Of special note was a great final seconds play designed by coach and executed by the players in an attempt add another point to the scoreboard. It certainly added even more excitement to a fast paced game.

If you missed this game, be sure to come out on Monday November 23nd (8:00 p.m. ) to cheer the J.V. on as they face Belleville West. GO BLUE RAGE!
